Oh man I just blew 170 plus tax on this lame product. PI should be embarrassed. First of all they are just way too hot. Temp was 72 when I got home. Much hotter than my old PI liner with 8 year old commuter Louis G shorts. I just felt so layered and could not cool. Don't be fooled by the extremely thick polyester like mesh material. The air going through it is pretty insignificant It is more of an insulator since if you have no wind then it is storing a layer of heat. Plus this poly liner stuff is heavy. I think I have seen the same material used for soccer ball bags which are very cheap or also appeared to be like what they use for fishing nets. These things are so heavy too. THe leg end seam runs back about 1 inch which on consists of three layers of material including the heavy fish net stuff. AND there is a big heavy non-flat seam running directly over the top of your thigh so with the weight and seam it is quite discomforting while pedaling. The short loops for hooking onto the bib liner I know are going to break real soon. They are real awkward to snap as well. You have to reach around sort of behind you just feeling for the little snap. Not having the liner on the waist was nice however I feel the material just did not breath right. I put a light synthetic sport shirt on top and I was felt I could not shed the heat after consistent pedaling and hill climbing. The cinches at the waist on the shorts seemed like a OK design but the shorts still shifted on me after riding a while. With all the various layers and that thick mesh crap the thing just has a bulky uncomfortable feel. I felt more like I was wearing a police assault uniform or maybe going for combat in a paint ball competition. I had some PI liners previous to this with the bright orange padding inside and they were great. Breathed real good with nice padding that still holds up after several years. These bib shorts don't seem that same level of quality. What I don't get is there are a thousand of biking shorts by so many bike companies and they are all pretty much the same give or take. Can some company please make a non-tight, not baggy, not gangey look just more of a semi-road short setup for serious commuters that have to hang out in public places taking care of business and where the hard core tights would be inappropriate especially when you have some age on you.I was willing to risk 170 on these losers sight unseen ( my loss ). I guess I will have to start researching how much a button snap installer tool would cost along with a a high tech glue for the material to create flat seams. Dunno - but I think I will have to invent something to work nicely. I imagine you will be able to find these sorts on drastic sale soon in all sizes. These are very well made shorts and have fantastic ventilation. Great for the searing summer temps here in Vegas. Well made with durable fabric as well. Black areas of shorts are mesh and allow air to pass right through.I like the bib short fit since it eliminates any rolling or bunching at the waist.Almost like wearing cargos but built for cyclingWell made and ligthwear.Very nice, comfortable.
