I bought these shorts specifically to wear in the sun in Baja California in the winter. The Cool Black material kept my legs cooler than my old bike shorts BUT riding toward the sun with the wind at my back the grippers heated up so much that they were painfully hot and left red stripes that lasted for several hours (this was mid-December latitude 26 degrees N). I didn't have any problems in Seattle in the summer. These shorts have more padding than other shorts and I can ride in comfort much longer.i've been buying PearlIzumi bike shorts for over twelve years andhave found that succeeding generations actually offer realenhancements to already top-notch products. The PearlIzumi WPRO In-R-Cool® Short Style no.11211305 is noexception; *however*, based on the sizing of previous iterationsof PearlIzumi women's bike shorts *and* having tried on theseWPRO In-R-Cool® based on the size of my previous generationPearlIzumi women's bike shorts, the WPRO In-R-Cool® runa size smaller. The "Sizing info" chart linked off the itempageis *not* realistic and recommends, for the measurement, a sizeone too small.Bottom line: *Highly* recommended & worth *every* penny ofa seemingly high price; however, order one size larger thanthat recommended by "Sizing info" chart.I liked mine so much that my wife wanted a pair and we both agree that the In-R-Cool are the best biking shorts we have ever owned. They fit as expected, but just a side note, people often buy bike shorts too big. I buy a Large when in other shorts I would buy an XL. That isn't because they don't fit right, but rather because you want them snug. I bought my wife a size smaller than she would normally wear too because you don't want them loose while riding.I have the Elite version of these shorts, which are, supposedly, the lower quality shorts. I like them better. These are pretty good, but I like the chamois in the elite a bit more, and the fit of the elite is more flattering. I got these for a screaming deal, so I'm good with it, but I wouldn't pay full price for these - I'd pay less and get the "Elite" level.Pearl Izumi Pro In-R-Cool shorts are top notch and are as good as any cycling shorts available for twice the price.Love the shorts, comfortable, perfectly snug, great padding and washes well; you will be very happy with this purchase. enjoy
